We are a new environmental charity established in September 2016.

CPN Directors

Maggie Fyffe, MBE

Maggie has lived on the Isle of Eigg for over 40 years and currently works as the administration secretary for the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust. She was a key player in the community buyout of the island in 1997 and was awarded an MBE in 2009 for her services to community and rural development. She comes from a generation for whom “reduce, recycle, re-use” comes as second nature.

Jennifer Leiper

Jennifer formerly worked for the corporate sector as a business administrator, but re-trained in Community Education having grown uncomfortable with mainstream lifestyle and ethics. This led to 10 years of working in the voluntary and public sectors, and she now works as a business administrator for the charity, Camphill Scotland and also as a support worker (learning disabilities). She has recently completed a Carbon Literacies training course and an Intro to Permaculture course. She looks forward to contributing this eclectic mix of experience, skills and perspectives to Clean Planet Now.

Rose Acock, MBE

Rose is a Human Ecologist and has a Masters in Development Studies.  She lived and worked in China for over 10 years, setting up the charity Development Organisation of Rural Sichuan (DORS), which implements small-scale village-based projects that promote sustainable rural development, for which she received her MBE. She now lives back in England, and works as the fundraising manager for APT Action on Poverty, an international development agency working in Sierra leone, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, and Sri Lanka.

Bob Wallace

Bob has two degrees in Human Ecology, as well as being a qualified marine engineer. He has worked for Greenpeace for over 20 years as chief engineer on their campaign boats, and is currently working for Medicine San Frontiers, as technical manager for their refugee, ship rescue operations. His vast experience of environmental and peace campaigning, and seeing first hand environmental pollution, gave him the motivation to set up Clean Planet Now.

Norah Barnes

Norah studied environmental sciences and human ecology, working in outdoor and environmenatl education field for over 20 years as a countryside ranger, field studies teacher and outdoor leader. She likes to enthuse people about the natural world and make connections. Norah and Bob moved to Eigg in 2004 and set up the Earth Connections Eco Centre, which runs residential courses on sustainable living. Norah organises courses, facilitates classes and manages the volunteer programme.

Location

Clean Planet Now has its headquarters on the Isle of Eigg, off the West Coast of Scotland. Our island is owned by its community, and we’re very interested in sustainable living. You can find out more about Eigg in the below video - which also features Norah talking about how plastic pollution is impacting our community and how we respond.
